Top Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have launched a consortium to give a boost to the Indian Entrepreneurship Ecosystem. The consortium was launched by faculty members of some of the most premier higher education institutions in India.
The consortium is being called iVEIN (Innovation-Venturing and Entrepreneurship in India Network) and among its founding members are faculty members of IIT Bombay , IIT Madras , IIM Bangalore , IIM Calcutta and IIM Kozhikode .
iVEIN was officially launched on 15 February 2020 at the 'Dialogue with Stakeholders' event held in IIT Bombay by the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE).

The so-formed network of institutions aims to focus on the creation of new knowledge and its disbursement. It plans to leverage the strengths of partners and drive the growth of entrepreneurship in India, which has so-far been predominantly led by policy and practice. At the event, Prof. A. Thillai Rajan, the coordinator of the initiative, laid out the key highlights of the initiative. He said that the initiative will exploit the role of innovation, venturing and entrepreneurship in the economic growth of the country. He added that the iVEIN network will facilitate high-quality research in the field and provide avenues for the disbursement of this knowledge through conferences and journal publications.

Prof. B. Ravi, Head of the Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship at IIT Bombay, Prof. Vidyanand Jha, Professor of Organisational Behaviour at IIM Calcutta, Prof. Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Chairperson of NSRCEL and Keyoor Purani, Professor and Executive Director at IIM Kozhikode, also spoke at the event. They all shared key insights on how the iVEIN network will be used to strengthen the entrepreneurial network in India.

iVEIN also plans to publish its first report on Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship in India in the second half of 2020. Proposals to author chapters in the India Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship Report 2020 are currently being accepted by the network.
