Jindal Stainless and ISM Dhanbad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for research and development projects. The MoU will facilitate in fostering the research, product development and environment safety.
India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) came into a contract with the illustrious Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad to carry out various research and development projects. The partnership is meant to foster research, new product development, environment safety, and skill expansion.
The pact was signed by the Vice President of SMS, JSL, Awanindra Kumar Singh, and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Director Rajiv Shekhar. Managing Director JSL, Abhyuday Jindal stressed the need for endorsing environment-friendly initiatives. The collaboration will seek to strengthen their industry expertise and the institute’s technical capacity. Director of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Rajiv Shekhar opined that the MoU will enrich JSL with the sound knowledge of optimizing effectiveness and serve as a suitable platform for students to develop their skills and gather hands-on experience.

The MoU will serve as an opportunity to promote collaborative ventures between industries and institutes. Both partners will jointly undertake various operations such as assessing physiochemical properties and combustion features of coal samples, ESG measures, soil and geosynthetic studies amongst others. JSL has a coal-based power plant and it also imports coal globally. The MoU will help to drive value creation through proper selection of coal-based on accurate parameters, proper storage of such coal, and effective combustion of mixed coal. The collaboration will also aim towards solving various technical and operational hurdles encountered by JSL.
As a part of the MoU, JSL will extend assistance to the institution in the form of paid summer internships for students.
