J&K Govt Announces 50% Fee Cut in Nursing, Architecture Studies in Cluster Universities

J&K Govt Announces 50% Fee Cut in Nursing, Architecture Studies in Cluster Universities

The government of Jammu & Kashmir has announced a 50% fee cut for students in architecture and nursing courses in constituent colleges of cluster universities in Srinagar and Jammu. Mr. Altaf Bukhari, Education Minister of the state made the announcement during the review meeting of Cluster University Jammu (CUJ) and Cluster University Srinagar (CUS). During the meeting, the Education Minister discussed the action plan for the rapid growth and development of these varsities.

After the meeting, the Education Minister directed the officials to cut down the existing annual fee of architecture course from Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 50,000 for the students belonging to General category. Students who come under BPL or Below Poverty Line will have to pay Rs. 25,000 as course fee for the architecture course.

The state government has also revised the fee structure for nursing courses from Rs. 65,000 to Rs. 32,500 for the students belonging to General category. Students who come under BPL can pay Rs. 15,000 as the course fee.

The Education Minister also discussed the appointment of Deans of both CUJ and CUS. For this purpose, he directed the VCs of both universities to prepare a list of candidates for the position as early as possible. The Minister further indicated that the final appointment would be made in consultation with the Chief Minister. He assured that the government would take all the possible steps to address the problems faced by CUJ and CUS.

During the meeting, the Minister also informed that National Institute of Designing would develop the logos for CUJ and CUS at the cost of Rs. 6 lakh. The logos of both the varsities will be ready by August 15, 2017. The meeting further discussed the need for the additional faculty members in both the universities.
