The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has set up an incubation centre to promote startups in the university. The JNU Foundation for Innovation (JNUFI) has been established as per the startup policy of JNU. The foundation will provide support for students and faculty members who own a startup.
JNUFI has been established as a world-class facility that can promote the creation of new technologies and businesses and turn them into viable consumer products and services.

As per a statement given out by JNU, NITI Aayog has brought the JNUFI under the Government of India's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and has sanctioned Rs. 10 crores as financial support for the development of JNUFI as an Atal Innovation Centre (AIC-JNUFI) for the next five years.
The statement also gave out the information that AIC-JNUFI will work with the aim of providing support to startups that can have an impact on the core sectors of the economy. AIC-JNUFI also aims to give a boost to innovation in JNU as well as India. The foundation will organise workshops and provide training and mentoring to startups that are in their early stages.

As one of the leading Central Universities of India, JNU attracts talented young minds from across the country. This move will help these students get the necessary support structure to turn their visions and ideas into reality. This is expected to not only boost innovation and knowledge creation but also create jobs and have an impact on unemployment.
The target of AIC-JNUFI is to incubate more than 100 startups in the next five years. Seven companies have so far gained the approval of the due diligence committee and now will be incubated at AIC-JUNFI.
