Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Bhubaneswar hosted ‘ Commonwealth Big Lunch’ in collaboration with British Council on March 23, 2018. The event united 30,000 indigenous students and staff of KISS with British High Commissioners , Representatives from the High Commissions of 53 Commonwealth countries, Delegates from British Council and Deputy High Commissioners.
All the delegates and High Commissioners from different Commonwealth countries had reached Bhubaneswar on March 22, 2018. These officials will take part in various programmes at KISS and KIIT on Friday, March 23, 2018.

As a part of ‘Commonwealth Big Lunch’, all the officials were invited for lunch with 27,000 students of KISS from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on March 23, 2018. Three different venues were selected for the ‘Commonwealth Big Lunch’. Over ten dishes were prepared and served to the officials as a part of the event. It is a matter of pride for the state government of Odisha to host the dignitaries from 53 Commonwealth countries .
The British Council is celebrating 70 years of inception in commonwealth countries of the world. To mark the milestone of completing 70 years, British Council had organized Mega Lunch. Therefore, the British Council has selected Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) from Asia along with four other Commonwealth countries including Edinburg, Ghana, South Africa and Australia. KISS is the only institute in Asia to be selected to host ‘Commonwealth Big Lunch’.

The main motto of the ‘Commonwealth Big Lunch’ is to encourage the people to get together to celebrate their commonwealth connections through food.
