The Union Minister of Human Resource and Department, Prakash Javadar met the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Linkedin, Jeff Weiner on September 13, 2016 . The meeting was to discuss a wide range of issues related to exploring the possibilities of utilising the reach of social media in the education sector. The primary objective is to boost innovation and placements.

After the meeting, Prakash Javadekar said that the discussions were fruitful. The ministry and Linkedin will joint work for the development of research and innovation. The ministry also discussed matters related to relevant teaching and placements after that to happen in all the colleges and technical institutes. He assured that the AICTE and the Department would work together with good ideas.He mentioned that there are 10,000 engineering colleges in India, and there is a need to promote research and innovation among the students.

CEO of Linkedin said that he was excited to meet the HRD Minister. He mentioned that Linkedin would work on making products in India and for India.
