Maharashtra SSC Passing Percentage 2025: The Maharashtra State Council for Education Research and Training (SCERT) is thinking of reducing the passing percentage for SSC examination for the Mathematics exam from 35 marks to 20 marks. In its new state curriculum framework for school education, the board suggested reducing the passing percentage to improve the overall passing percentage of students in Maharashtra SSC exams. So far, the passing marks are 35 for all subjects. However, the SCERT is thinking of improving the evaluation criteria.
Maharashtra SSC Passing Marks Reduced for Improving Passing Percentage
SCERt will issue a certificate for all candidates who pass with lower marks with special remarks. The students who pass with 35 marks or above will have no remark on their passing certificates. This will restrict the students having lower marks from pursuing higher education that requires knowledge of Mathematics and Science. However, the evaluation for other subjects will remain as before. To be clear, the candidates who receive marks between 20 to 35 will be considered pass but can not opt for PCM or PCB stream in their Class 11th studies.
The students with lower marks in Maharashtra SSC 2025 can pursue other streams i.e., Commerce and Humanities. One of the teachers from BMC school shared when asked, ‘Students who do not like mathematics often end up getting the subject in their higher studies due to lack of options. This initiative will support these students to pass their Maharashtra SSC exam 2025 and pursue Non-Science subjects.
Moreover, the students who attain less than 35 marks in their final examination still get the chance to appear in the supplementary exams. The process of Reappearing exams will be followed accordingly. This initiative of SCERT is being seen as a huge relief for lots of students in Maharashtra.
