Academic councils of Mangalore University confirmed the introduction of three new industry-oriented courses. The first special meeting for academic session 2019- 20 was held on February 03, 2020. Vice-chancellor P S Yadapadithaya always had the vision to offer industry-based courses at the university. New courses include Integrated MSc course in electronics and MSc in cybersecurity proposed by the Department of Electronics as well as a Diploma in hostel management.
Department of Electronics, Dean, A Committee headed by T N Shreedhar and commerce faculty stated that the courses were finalised by external industry experts who were invited for it. Yadapadithaya suggested that the syllabus must be revised every year for every department and syllabus can be finalised after consulting experts in the industry.
Naveen Kumar S K, who is the chairman of the Electronics department stated that the M.Sc integrated course will offer lateral entry and exit options for students. PUC IInd year/ Diploma in electronics 1st-year students/2nd-year Advanced Diploma/ BSc in electronics 3rd year/ BSc (Honors) in electronics 4th years students can join the Integrated course. Kumar also stated that Mangalore University is the only university in Karnataka to offer M.Sc Integrated in Electronics course.

Yadapadithaya stated that the PG diploma in hostel management course is introduced to create qualified professionals who will be capable to take care of working women and students in hotels. He added that the educational institutes rely on staff to carry warden duties in addition to teaching. Those who will complete the course can handle specialised tasks. Intake for the course will be based on a bachelor's degree qualifying exam.
