For the first time, the Maharashtra Technical College Entrance Test or MHT-CET will take place in the online mode. Even though, the number of centres has gone down to 166 from previous year’s 1,260 centres which were conducted in the offline method (pen and paper)
According to the officials, the crunch in the number is a result of the limited number of computers available for taking the examination.
The 2019 MHT-CET test will be spanning over 12 days in which, around 4.13 lakhs of students will be taking part who are aspirants for Engineering, Pharmacy and agriculture courses at the state of Maharastra. The 2019 MHT-CET examinations are set to start from 2nd May which will conclude on 13th May. The examinations will be conducted in two halves but in between, there will be a break for overlapping NEET or National Entrance Cum Eligibility Test taken for medical admissions on 4th and 5th May. The MHT-CET 2019 is again set to begin from 6th May 2019. On May 6th, the MHT-CET examinations are set to be conducted in a single shift.

This year, there is a 5% dip in the number of aspirants compared to the number of aspirants in 2018 which was 4.36 lakh. 1.20 lakh students who applied for MHT-CET this year applied under PCM or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combination where 1.22 lakh aspirants are set to appear under PCB or Physics, Chemistry and Biology combination. 1.7 lakh aspirants have chosen to appear in both the papers in MHT-CET 2019 with PCMB or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Around 16,000 students are set to appear for the MHT-CET examinations from outside the state of Maharashtra.
