MHRD Asks Staff Members Given Work From Home to Be On-Duty Till 31 March

MHRD has asked researches, teachers and other faculty members to be on-duty when working from home till 31 March. As per the directives issued by MHRD, the staff has been asked to keep writing research papers and focus on online education during the work from home period.

MHRD Asks Staff Members Given Work From Home to Be On-Duty Till 31 March

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has asked researchers to keep writing articles, research papers etc. while they are on work from home. As part of a social distancing measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in India, researchers have been asked by the MHRD to work from home till 31 March.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak that has taken the work by the storm, the functioning of educational institutions in India has been adversely affected. There are many major exams in India that have been postponed or cancelled altogether.

MHRD has also directed the teaching and the non-teaching staff members of schools, colleges and universities under CBSE, NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), AICTE and UGC to work from home till March 31. As per the directions issued by MHRD, all researchers, faculty members and teaching and non-teaching staff will be considered as on-duty during this work from home period till 31 March. The ministry decision has come just days after NIOS and CBSE postpone the board examinations of Class 10 and 12 .

In a notice released by MHRD, the ministry has asked the researchers, teachers and faculty members of various institutions to focus on the development of online education. MHRD has asked the said staff to utilize their work from home for the development of online content, online teaching and online evaluation. Teachers and researchers have also been asked to prepare novel projects on topics such as 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat'.

Education has not only been impacted at the school level but at the higher education level as well. UGC has directed institutions to take preventive measures against the Coronavirus outbreak . The GD / PI Rounds of MBA colleges have been postponed . Major exams such as the JEE Main April 2020 have been postponed . Convocations have been postponed in IIM B, IIM L and IIM IDR and institutes such as IIM L and ISB have asked students to vacate the campuses .

Consequently, the admission process for various classes is also expected to be delayed. Currently, there has been no update from MHRD regarding the board exam papers evaluation schedule. Once the ministry shares more information regarding the schedule for evaluation for board exams, more information regarding the date of result declaration and admission process may be made available.
