MICA Ahmedabad , one of the most prestigious MBA colleges in India has set new records of gender diversity in its 2020 batch profile. The institute saw a record number of female candidates joining the current batches in all of its programmes.
55 per cent of the students joining the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) , the flagship course of MICA, are female. The strength of the female candidates in the 2020 PGP batch of MICA Ahmedabad will be 119 and 97 male students will be joining the batch. The ratio last year was 103 female to 113 male students.
Additionally, 90 per cent of the students joining the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and 70 per cent of the students joining the Crafting Creative Communications (CCC) course are females. The strength of female candidates will be 7 out of 8 in the FPM batch and 27 out of 41 in the CCC batch.

Dr Shailendra Raj Mehta, the President and Director of MICA, said the admissions at MICA were purely based on merit and cited women being 'naturally creative' as the reason behind them performing well in the 2020 admissions at MICA. He also added that nearly 50 per cent of the faculty members at MICA were also women.
Female students at MICA feel that it is the friendly and inclusive environment that MICA that helped attract them to the institute. Students feel that the institute provides equal opportunities to both genders and nurtures the ideas of students, which helps create a positive atmosphere.
Dr Preety Shroff, the Dean at MICA, and Prof. Ruchir Tewari, the Chair of Admissions, also expressed their delight at seeing an increasing number of female candidates joining the batches. Dr Shroff said that women professionals arrive from all over India and contribute to a woman-friendly campus at MICA .
