The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 is scheduled to be held on February 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th 2020. This year, the entrance exam is going to be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. The test will be conducted divided into two sessions for each day: the morning session which will be conducted from 9.30 AM- 12.30 PM and the afternoon session which will be conducted from 2.30 PM-5.30 PM. This year, over 8.60 lakh aspirants have applied for GATE exam for different streams.

As per the reports generated by the IIT officials, for GATE 2020, most of the applications have been filled for the Mechanical Engineering stream. On the other hand, the least of the applications have been filled for Ecology and Evolution (EY). There are a total of 1,71,432 applicants who have opted for Mechanical Engineering, while only 1750 students have applied for the Ecology and Evolution.
Through GATE, over 2,500 tend to get filled, however, a lot of the times these seats in IITs remain vacant. As per the reports, almost 15-20% of the seats remain vacant in GATE due to IITs and PSUs failure o synchronise their recruitment process with the entrance exam.

For the year 2020, a total of 25 papers will be conducted for which there will be a total of 65 questions, containing 100 marks.
