Nagpur University Chancellor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari informed that summer examinations that were deferred due to the COVID-19 outbreak will be held in May and June if the lockdown is lifted.
The decision to conduct exams in May-June was taken during his interaction with the Vice-Chancellors of all state universities through video conferencing. During the video conferencing suggestions were invited on how to conduct the exams if lockdown is extended. There were suggestions to combine the winter and summer exams incase the lockdown persists beyond July. Several recommendations to conduct the exams in an objective pattern were also taken into consideration so that the academic session is not affected and the students do not suffer due to the same.
Due to Coronavirus outbreak universities have deferred the exams and some of them are conducting online classes. After the lockdown of March 24, many exams which were to be held in April have also been postponed. Nagpur University also had to push its second and third phase exams which affected two to three lakh students. The new dates have not been announced yet due to the prevailing situation and the revised dates will most probably be released after April 14th,2020.
Most of the universities will assess the situation after April 14th, and in case there is still no change in the situation then a further delay can be expected and exams might take place in May or June.
