Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has decided to initiate a radio service to broadcast all necessary varsity related information for the benefit of its students.
All that students have to do henceforth is to tune into 'Radio RTMNU'!
The radio service will start from next academic session. The radio station, expected to come up somewhere at varsity premises on Amravati Road, will operate like any other private FM radio channel. According to information, it will be a 24-hour service and the station will broadcast information pertaining to examinations, educational development, cultural events, lectures and entertaining programmes.
The exact location where the radio station will come up is however still undecided. Sources believe that a new building might be constructed to house the station and ` 64 lakh is the estimated cost of starting the service. The service will most probably be outsourced to experts of the field and the Public Relations department will handle the functioning of the radio service, informed sources.
Pune University already has a radio service and NU will be the second university in the state to have this facility for students.
This new Radio by the university will be a very good move by the university and appreciated by students.
