The Navratna public sector undertaking, Nalco, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela and the NIT Rourkela Alumni Association (abbreviated as NITRAA). This MoU is for creating a Centre of Excellence which will be producing entrepreneurs by supporting startup companies which are technology-driven so as to improve service delivery competitiveness and manufacturing.
These three partners will receive support from ICT, IIT, and DST for promoting an environment of knowledge by collaborating with universities and research institutes in the core areas as well as areas of enabling technology. This will help in fostering innovation, creativity, and in improving the competitiveness in particular technological needs of the host institute as well as of other industries.

The incubation centre is to be located at the Research and Training Centre of Nalco at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar. It is the place where a world-class research facility is being developed by the aluminium giant for benefitting the aluminium sector.
The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, K Rajeswara Rao, has urged the three partners to create an ecosystem which will encourage innovative practices and fresh ideas. To mark this occasion, Nalco also rewarded fifty employees of the company with an ‘Excellence Award’. Recognition and appreciation of good work are necessary and Nalco aims to foster a culture of professionalism, high performance, and excellence at the workplace.

The Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of Nalco, Shri T. K. Chand, appreciated the efforts of everyone involved in the initiative and said that the dedication and hard work of the employees are paying off and enhancing the growth in all fronts- productivity, production, and profitability.
