NDA Topper Chooses Country, Turns Down IIT Admission after Cracking JEE Advanced

NDA Topper Chooses Country, Turns Down IIT Admission after Cracking JEE Advanced

According to the recently released results of National Defence Academy (NDA) examination, Shivansh Joshi, a 17-year-old youth from Uttaranchal emerged as the topper. His strong determination and childhood dream to serve the country helped him crack the NDA examination.

Shivansh Joshi hails from Ramnagar in Uttaranchal. He cleared Class 12 board exams from a private school located in Kashipur with a high score of 96.8%. Even though he cracked JEE Advanced 2017 examination, and became eligible to seek admission in IIT, Shivansh Joshi did not opt for IIT. His ultimate dream is to serve the nation for which he let go the lucrative lifelong career in the field of technology.

UPSC declared the final merit list of the candidates who qualified NDA exam on November 24, 2017, and Shivansh Joshi’s name topped the list. He did not take any coaching to crack NDA exam. Joshi’s father is associated with LIC India and his mother is a government primary school teacher.

Revealing the secret of his success, Shivansh said that cracking competitive exams like NDA is not very difficult. It is just a matter of devising a daily routine plan of study and abide by it on a regular basis. Joshi used to study, play football and read books every day. He indicated that one could not read or play for the entire day, because of which it is essential to maintain a balance.

Shivansh Joshi concluded that he would dedicate his life to the security and pride of the nation. Mr. Sanjeev Josh, Shivansh’s father expressed his happiness on the success of his son and felt proud of him.
