NEET: PG Medical Admissions in Gujarat Likely to be Delayed

The Post Graduate (PG) medical admissions in Gujarat are expected to be delayed by a week due to confusion over the seat allocation. The PG medical admissions based on NEET-PG merit are scheduled to begin on March 25, 2018, in Gujarat. Since Medical Council of India (MCI) increased PG medical seats to 660 at the all-India level, confusion has been surrounded regarding the seats allocated to Gujarat.

In an official letter issued by MCI to all the medical colleges in Gujarat, a confirmation has been made by MCI that the Gujarat state was allocated 66 PG seats. However, the PG medical seats which have to be bifurcated between the state quota and AIQ (All-India Quota) created confusion.

The MCI letter lacks clarity about the share of seats. Therefore, the officials will not begin the counselling process until MCI clears confusion over the seats allocated to state quota. However, students need not panic that the PG medical admission process will not be delayed for a long period.

Last year, the Post Graduate medical admissions in Gujarat were conducted for 1,701 seats including 950 seats in government colleges. This year, a total of 1,800 PG seats are available for the admission process. Students who have qualified NEET-PG can start filling the admission form in online mode from March 15, 2018. This year, the entire admission process will take place in online mode.
