In the NIRF Rankings 2017, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has made a significant improvement in the parameter of Outreach and Inclusivity (OI). National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2017 were released by HRD Ministry on April 3, 2017. As per the rankings, IIT Ropar has been featured among the top five new IITs.
Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, Prof. K. S. Das expressed that they were elated to be a part of the rankings and the institute bagged 3 rd spot among the new IITs in ‘overall’ category and 5th spot in the engineering category (among new IITs).

He further explained that the institute has done well in Outreach and Inclusivity parameter. It clearly reveals the international outreach and regional diversity of the institute. The institute also created a better environment for women, socially and economically challenged and physically challenged students.

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has been ranked 21 st in engineering colleges category and 32 nd in the overall category. The institute has been performing well since its inception in 2008. It has been able to achieve a greater milestone within a span of nine years.
Compared to the last year, the institute performed better in Outreach and Inclusivity parameter by securing the 11 th rank. Last year, IIT Ropar was ranked 105 th in OI parameter. Therefore, it can be termed as a significant improvement.
Apart from new IITs, older IITs also performed well in rankings by securing top spots in engineering colleges and overall categories.
