NIT Warangal Director, NV Ramana Rao announced that the premier institute would offer a new M.Tech course in Waste Management from the academic session 2020-21. Primarily, the institute will offer 20 seats in this course. The announcement was made at Industry-Academia Meet on Waste Management and Social Entrepreneurship organized by Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD). Considering the importance of waste management practices and a good career path in this sector, NIT Warangal has decided to launch this course.
Experts in the field, NGOs, Pollution Control Board, Recyclers, Private Corporates and Industrial Associations, attended the industry-academic meet on Waste Management. The meet turned out to be fruitful, as new ideas have been discussed on waste management.
KV Jayakumar from Civil Engineering Department of NIT Warangal revealed that Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (Hyderabad) would soon launch an MBA course in Waste Management and Social Entrepreneurship.
The industry-academia meet on Waste Management also had 20 stalls, which displayed different models for waste management. Telangana Pollution Control Board organized this event in collaboration with its regional office located in Warangal.

Nit Warangal is yet to reveal complete details about the M.Tech in Waste Management course. The admission to this course will be based on GATE score of the candidates, and one must take part in the CCMT counselling process to get admission. However, the B.Tech specializations that are eligible for M.Tech in Waste Management admission are yet to be revealed. In all probability, B.Tech graduates who have specialized in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering may be eligible for admission.
