NOTA Option Now Available in DUSU Elections

EVMs at Delhi university will now have a NOTA option for the DUSU elections.
NOTA Option Now Available in DUSU Elections

Delhi University has decided to make the NOTA (None of the above) option available to the students in the student union polls. The student union polls will be held on September 9. This will be the first time this option will be made available to the students.

On the order of the University Grants Commission (UGC), a NOTA option will be made available for those students who do not find the candidates standing in the election suitable for the posts. Before the DUSU elections, the NOTA option will be installed in the electronic machines (EVMs) for students.

DU was sent a notice regarding the same last year as well but it was too late as the new EVMs were already prepared before the notice arrived.

A similar notice was sent last year to DU, however, the EVMs had been prepared before the notice arrived. According to D.S. Rawat, DUSU Chief Election Commissioner, a new option has been made available for the students as they now can choose this option in case they think that no candidate is worthy enough for the post.

Apart from this, other rules made mandatory by Rawat were the non-usage of printed posters as they deface the property and college premises. Also, all political parties were informed that without special permission from election officers, they are not allowed take out any processions.

This year the DUSU elections have been scheduled for September 9.
