National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology, Madras for research and development in different areas.
As per MoU, the research and development will be conducted in the following areas:-
- Grid Stability
- Gypsum Building
- Waste to Energy
- Carbon Capture
- Bulk Ash Utilisation

The project will be taken up by both the organisations for the development of new technology and efficiency improvements. The primary objective of the project is to develop the processes and products for optimisation.

Through this project, research and development will get a tremendous boost in the areas mentioned above. Generating energy from waste is one of the major highlights of this project.
Recently, the Himachal Pradesh Government has signed a MoU with NTPC for the establishment of Hydro Engineering College in Bilaspur.
