PEC Chandigarh is planning to conduct next semester in online mode. The classes are expected to begin in the last week of July.
Director of Punjab Engineering College, Dheeraj Sangha has confirmed through a tweet that the institute will conduct next semester online. The decision was taken after consulting with the faculty members of the college in a virtual meeting with the heads of department.
Professor Sanghi took social media platform and said that PEC has been planning ahead and figuring out solutions to conduct classes during the pandemic time. The college felt that opening the college campus with a student strength of 3,300 would not be possible till November and so they must plan to conduct classes online.
The director of PEC through a blog said that while faculty members feel the need for on-campus classes for quality education, the college will not be able to open campus any soon. He further added that the college must start its semester at the usual time, which is last week of July and classes to be conducted in online mode. The faculty members will be trained to conduct online classes.
Professor Sanghi said that the faculty members of the college wanted to make sure that they have enough time to learn techniques and strategies to conduct online classes.

Punjab Engineering College Online Classes
The classes at PEC will be conducted either through live stream sessions or recorded lectures. There will be a doubt clearing session for recorded lectures. Fewer courses will be offered in the upcoming sessions than the usual.
Courses in which only a few students will be registered are offered using “online - external model” i.e for such courses only exams will be conducted. Students will be allowed to register for courses on SWAYAM, Coursera, edX and Harappa.

There is a possibility for virtual lab sites and holding online classes for lab practicals.
The director of the institute has suggested conducting lab sessions in the shift. He also said that the institute is exploring the possibility of conducting the mid and end semester exams in online mode.
