Presidency University conducts an entrance exam, i.e., PUBDET, every year for the admission to various courses offered by it. The notification for PUBDET 2018 has already been issued and the entrance exam is slated to be conducted on May 12 and May 13. However, the entrance exam dates of Presidency University are clashing with four national-level entrance exams including: -
- CLAT
- Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Admission Test
- NID Entrance Exam
- COMED-K
According to sources, PUBDET entrance exam for various subjects like Mathematics , English etc., are scheduled to take place on May 12, while entrance test for subjects such as Economics , Commerce etc., are scheduled to be conducted on May 13, 2018.
West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board ( WBJEEB ) conducts PUBDET for the admission to B.A and B.Sc courses offered by Presidency University, Kolkata.

When the exam authority (WBJEEB) was contacted regarding the clashing of exam dates, the authorities replied that they had informed all the exam conducting bodies not to hold any exams on May 12 and May 13, 2018. Official information on the same was also forwarded to all the exam conducting authorities in November 2017, which means that WBJEEB had informed in advance regarding the exam dates.

The officials also mentioned that it is up to students to choose which entrance exam that will have to attend.
