President of India, Ram Nath Kovind addressed the first convocation of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa. While addressing the audience, he talked about the importance of modernising the agriculture so that the country prepares itself for the climate and productivity challenges.
During the convocation, President awarded gold medals to 33 students and in total 438 students were awarded convocation degrees.

He also appreciated the varsity for making several contributions in boosting crop production in Bihar state. The production of Maize increased in Bihar as a new breed was developed in the varsity. The government is taking various efforts to help farmers get the right price for their produce. One such is the neem-coated urea which has really helped the farmers and the crops.
He urged the university administration to take the students to the birthplace of Dr Rajendra Prasad, India’s First President so that they could draw inspiration from him and his achievements. He also asked the students to take benefits from Mudra scheme of the government and to create relevant job opportunities.

According to him, the land is limited and India requires more crops which can yield with fewer resources as well. A lot of schemes are running in the centre.
