Ranchi University Hosts Convocation 2019, President Congratulates Gold Medallists

President Ram Nath Kovind visits Ranchi University for the 2019 Convocation Ceremony. He also spoke about the ill-effects of e-cigarettes at the convocation.

The 2019 convocation of Ranchi University took place on Monday, 30th September. The convocation was graced by the presence of the Honourable President of India, Sri Ram Nath Kovind who congratulated the students who were passing out from the university that day and wished them well for their future endeavours. The president also made the students aware of the harmful effects of e-cigarettes which were banned recently in India.

56 gold medals were conferred to students this year. 47 girls were the recipient of the medals whereas only 9 male students received it. The Hon’ble President congratulated the girls for their excellent academic performance.

Raising awareness against the usage of e-cigarettes, the President said that today’s youth is falling prey to e-cigarettes. The centre banned the use of e-cigarettes recently while Jharkhand banned it earlier in April. He stated that he is worried about the youth and suggested them not to come under its influence as it is harmful.

Talking about the legacy of Jharkhand state, he said that the state is rich in human resource. The Captain of the 1928 Gold Winning Hockey team, Jaipal Singh Munda belonged from this state. He also mentioned about the achievements of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Deepika Kumari, Param Vir Chakra awardee late Albert Ekka who belonged from this state and left their mark in their respective fields.

The president suggested the students take inspiration from the works of Vikas Bharti, who works together with Ramakrishna Mission in the State for rural and tribal development and urged students to be a part of the overall human development of the state. He expressed that we can learn to live in harmony with nature from the tribal people.
