A faculty from the Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia will visit the Shivaji University in August under the Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) scheme.
The ministry of human resource development has given nod to the three courses in the SUK under GIAN, while the university had sent nine proposals. The other two courses for which international experts are coming in the 2016-17 academic year are nanotechnology and geology.
University officials said only 20 universities across the country have been selected under GIAN and the SUK is one of them. The selection criteria were based on National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grade and important memorandum of understandings (MoUs).
" The local faculty member of the university will act as host for the foreign expert. After the end of the teaching, a test will be conducted and credits will be granted to the students. For the courses under GIAN, only a limited number of students will be able to attend the expert lecture, out of which 50% will be from other universities. The experts are from the University of Grenoble, France and the Purdue University in US . They are likely to visit the university by December "
