Due to the severe cold waves, Delhi schools will be closed till January 15, 2023. Along with it, the online and remedial classes have also been postponed. As per the weather forecast, there will be dense fog in the next two days in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and adjoining north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, especially during the night and morning hours. The circular was made by the Directorate of Education, Delhi Government considering the excessive heat wave. Initially, it was said that the private schools of Delhi will be re-opened after the winter vacation on January 9.
Last weekend was the coldest one in Delhi NCR. Since morning, the city had been witnessing dense fog, as a result, the flights and trains around this route got delayed. On Saturday, the temperature of Delhi NCR was a minimum 2.2-degree Celsius, which was more than 6.4 notches to the normal limits. Hence, the Govt schools of Delhi NCR have decided to re-open the schools after January 15, 2023. Also, the private schools are walking on the same path and have planned to extend the winter vacation till January 15.
Not only that, the remedial classes of 9 to 12 in all the govt schools have been postponed, the announcement made by the Delhi govt on Sunday. Nonetheless, the project assessment, internal assessment, and practical exam for class 10 and class 12 will be conducted as per the scheduled time and date.
Along with it, IMD notified that the Delhi NCR and the surroundings will be going to experience dense to very dense fog in some of the parts during the night and the morning hours in the next few days and tentatively the temperature will be plugged into 1.9 degrees celsius. Also, the air quality index of Delhi remained very poor, with the AQI at 359. As per the Meteorological Department, there will be a red alert for the residents for the next 24 to 48 hours, assuming severe cold waves in parts of Northern India, including Delhi.
