Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK)
has reminded faculty members about the submission of pre-proposals or project ideas for science and technology. In its letter to principals of affiliated colleges and department heads, the university said that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the
Rajiv Gandhi
Science and Technology Commission for implementation of the scheme of assistance for science and technology through the university.
The university said that stress will be laid on applications in science and technology for socio-economic development. These activities need to be undertaken through projects to set clear targets and timeframes for implementation.
The letter also stated that if the proposals are found to be useful, the commission provides necessary financial and logistical support for implementation. About project ideas, the letter said that besides the limited extent of project work done by students, some of them may be based on important ideas. They can contribute significantly to the industry or society and can also have a positive impact on the students' learning experience.
The scheme's objective is to facilitate a greater interaction between colleges and institutions as well as potential users of their research and innovation. It said that researchers, college students and groups of research students could submit projects with specific objectives through the institution head. The head will be responsible for receiving the financial support and proper use of funds.The university has given no submission deadline for the pre-proposals, saying that it can be submitted any time in the academic year.
