On April 29, 2022, Friday, the Union Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, will launch the Mandate Document of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, in four areas of school education, highlights the need of the development of (i) National Curriculum Frameworks (NCF), (ii) Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE), (iii) Teacher Education, and (iv) Adult Education.

The Ministry of Education, India, on April 28, 2022, Thursday, announced the launch of NCF Mandate. The official statement of the Ministry of Education reads as follows.

"To provide inputs for the development of the four above-stated curriculum frameworks, twenty-five themes based on NEP 2020 perspectives have been identified under the following three categories:

  • Curriculum and Pedagogy
  • Cross-cutting Issues
  • Other important areas of NEP 2020 that focus on the systemic changes and reforms

Twenty-five topics based on the NEP, 2020 perspectives have been selected under three categories to provide inputs for the construction of these four curricular frameworks: 1. Curriculum and Pedagogy 2. Issues that Cut Both Ways 3. Other key areas of the NEP, 2020, with an emphasis on systemic adjustments and reforms.

The Mandate Document outlines the NCF's development process, as well as its intended structure and objectives, as well as some of the NEP 2020's key concepts that will guide the development of the four NCFs. This National Curriculum Framework is being developed through a collaborative and consultative process that begins at the district level, progresses to the state level, and eventually reaches the national level. The integral part of this Mandate Document is the 'Guidelines for Position Papers for the Development of the National Curriculum Framework.'

With the use of a tech platform and a mobile app, the full reformation of the curriculum framework process is done in a digital, paperless way with broad consultation at the school, district, and state levels."
