President of India, Shri. Pranab Mukherjee gave away awards to the Class 12 toppers of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya that is located in the President Estate. The awards had been constituted this year and were to be given to the top scorers of the CBSE Class 12 examinations. Aman Agarwal has been awarded ‘Pranab Mukherjee Award for Excellence’ for his performance in CBSE Class 12 examinations. ‘Omita Paul Award for Academic Excellence’ was awarded to Muskan Sharma who emerged as the topper among girls in CBSE Class 12 examinations. Omita Paul is the secretary to the President who has been working with him since his tenure as a Union Finance Minister.

Mr. Mukherjee also presented the ‘Kunjanamma Mathew Award’ to Muskan Sharma for scoring the highest marks in Mathematics in CBSE Class 12 examinations among girls.
Congratulating the students, he urged them to strive for excellence in every aspect of life. Further, he quoted lines from one of the poems of Shri Rabindranath Tagore which indicated that service is always a joy. He also remembered his experiences as a teacher and shared them on the occasion.

The award consists of a cash prize and a citation. The cash prize of Rs. 5000 was given from the personal endowments of the President of India and others. The majority of students who are pursuing studies at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya are children of staff members living in the President’s Estate. About 6,000 people are associated with the President’s Estate.
Last year, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Shri Pranab Mukherjee also taught at the Sarvodaya Vidyalaya.
