The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute is waiting for the approval from the Centre to start a collaborative programme with the University of Dhaka. As per Debamitra Mishra, SRFTI Director, if permitted this will be the first tie-up between SRFTI and a foreign university.
She also said that once the centre approves the same, the institute will further proceed for inking a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Dhaka .
According to the proposal, a team of students and a faculty member of SRFTI will take part in collaborative productions in both Film and TV productions. The students of the two institutions will work together on short films for the digital media. They are also planning to start student exchange programmes on a regular basis once approved by the Centre.

SRFTI was established in the year 1995 and is funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The institute has emerged as a national center of excellence for postgraduate studies in cinema. It offers various programmes in cinematography, editing, screenplay and writing, direction, sound recording, animation cinema etc. The University of Dhaka is recognized as the most prestigious institute of Bangladesh and is ranked as No. 1 in Bangladesh Ranking.

The associated between SRFTI and Dhaka University will offer students with various career opportunities to explore in terms of film and tv production.
