St. Xavier’s College has decided to upgrade the Undergraduate departments to postgraduate studies within the span of the next 3 years. The Principal, Father Dominic Savio confirmed this information at the 15th convocation of the institute and conveyed that the plan is a part of the Vision 2025 roadmap of St. Xavier’s College. He further added that the college has decided to introduce doctoral studies in all the departments and commence PhD programmes in English and Bengali very soon.
Father Savio continued that the construction of the new campus of the St. Xavier’s College near EM Bypass will begin soon as part of the Vision 2025 roadmap to be realized in 3 years. The principal said that this will be the third campus of the college, after Raghabpur rural campus in South 24-Parganas district and Kolkata campus housing a state of the art hub. The father said that the new campus will house the department of Mass Communication & Multimedia, a modern incubation centre for facilitating startups, the community radio station and modern research facilities for PG departments of Science.

The Raghabpur rural campus of St. Xavier’s College is all set to launch its 'School for Gender Studies' from next month. Father Dominic Savio said that the objective of introducing the course is not only to empower girl students with self-confidence and knowledge but also to facilitate awareness about gender equality among their neighbours, family members and others. Father shared that the centre has also planned to commence with peer-reviewed journals on the subject in Bengali as well as English with ISSN numbers.
Prof. Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee, the Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University presided over the convocation. A Xaverian and a distinguished cardiac surgeon, Dr. Kunal Sarkar was awarded this year’s Nihil Ultra Award for his excellent contribution to society, especially during the COVID-19 period. According to Father Savio, the Raghabpur rural campus is also being upgraded. The aim of the expansion plan is to bridge the rural-urban divide among the students of the society.

Apart from the new PG departments, the Raghabpur rural campus is also going to offer vocational programmes designed to meet the needs of the local residents. As per the plan, a centre for Skill Development will also be introduced at the Raghabpur campus to impart technical skills to the local rural populace.
The 15th convocation of St Xavier's College was held on February 19, 2022. On this occasion, a total of 2,539 UG, 352 PG, 95 B.Ed & 9 PhD students were presented their degrees. This was the first physical convocation held at an educational institute in the city in the last two years.
