Students of
Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai
emerged victorious in the Smart India Hackathon 2017, which was organized by the HRD Ministry.
The students who participated in the event flourished while coming up with an innovative solution for Indian Space Research Organization, the space agency of the Government of India. The solution will help in tracking documents within the space agency.
The winners were awarded a trophy as well as certificates along with the prize money of Rs. 1 lakh from the ISRO Chairman - A. S. Kiran Kumar. At the event, a little more than Students of the college compete in the finals of the competition held at Ahmedabad, bagging the first place competing with about 50 finalists.

Throughout the nation, 36 hours non-stop digital programming competition held, witnessed by the teams from across 33 locations in India taking part in the ceremony. The race grounded with "500 odd problem statements" to technology students across the country.
Also, another team of a scholar from the same academy was placed among the finest six teams. They established a project captioning 'A security device for women'. There were a total of 56 finalists participating at the hackathon.
Rajalakshmi Engineering College (R.E.C) is a private engineering college located at Thandalam, Sriperumbudur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The college was established in 1997 by the Rajalakshmi Educational Trust, Rajalakshmi Institutions and has been approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
