D R More, director of Board of Colleges and University Development (BCUD) in SUK, said, "We have received proposals for starting new colleges, subjects or divisions for the academic year 2016-17. But from the 2017-18 academic year, the university have to present a five-year plan to the state government. This is the last year of yearly proposals."
The Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) has received 102 proposals for new courses in the division which can be started from the academic year 2016.
Earlier last year, the
SUK
received
over 300 proposals for starting new colleges, courses, subjects, additional divisions and new streams among others.
The subjects, proposed were shared during the annual senate meeting which took place on 22nd March’16 i.e. Tuesday.
All the courses have been included in the master plan based on the uniform criteria suggested by the Narendra Jadhav committee last year.
According to the master plan, following courses are some of the courses that have been proposed:
- BSc in renewable energy
- Khadi production and design
- MSc in alcohol technology
- MSc in carbon trading & transfer
The subjects offered in conventional courses:
- BSc
- BCom
- BA
University is working very seriously on these proposals and we might witness some new courses this academic year.
