The Government of Tamil Nadu is planning to set up coaching centres/ academies for the candidates aspiring for civil service examinations. Mr. K. A Sengottaiyan (Education Minister of Tamil Nadu) assured that the government would take necessary measures for implementing the plan. He revealed that the idea is to launch coaching academies for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) in 32 districts across the state.

Mr. Sengottaiyan further mentioned that the academies would enroll students belonging to economically backward and middle classes. These coaching academies will help these students to secure good ranks in civil service examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year. These academies will also provide coaching to the candidates aspiring for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), he added.

This year, Combined Civil Services Examination was conducted by TNPSC for the recruitment Group – 2(A) employees. The government released over 1,900 vacancies across 41 sectors, and numerous candidates appeared for the written test that took place on August 6, 2017. The selection of candidates for these posts might be tough due to the heavy competition.
UPSC had already conducted Civil Service Exam (Prelims) on July 18, 2017. Civil Services (Mains) Exam 2017 will begin on October 28, 2017, and will continue until November 3, 2017. However, there will be no exam on October 29 and November 2, 2017. There will be seven papers in Civil Services (Mains) Exam 2017, while Paper – VI & Paper – VII are optional papers.
