Telangana Schools Bandh on July 12 : The Left Students’ Union including the state wings of All India Students’ Federation (AISF), Students Federation of India (SFI), All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), All India Students’ Bloc (AISB), All India Federation of Democratic Students (AIFDS), and All India Progressive Students’ Union (AIPSU) has called for a school and college bandh today, July 12, 2023, as per local reports. However, there is no official notice for the same. According to the local reports, the school and college bandh will be observed in all Telangana districts. The bandh will be followed by a protest by the left-wing student organization to put an end to unofficially charging more fees from the students.

After ABVP called for a bandh, the schools in Telangana were shut on June 26 , and now the leaders have decided to protest for fee exploitation today.

As there is no cap on the fee structure of private schools and colleges, the students have called the school bandh so that the government can impose a cap on the fee structure. The school bandh has been called to address the Telangana government’s neglect of education issues in both government and private schools.

Apart from this, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded the recruitment of around 15,000 teachers for the MEO and DSC posts in government schools. The ABVP members pointed out that the education fees in Telangana are the highest in the country. The schools charge lakhs of rupees even for the primary classes and thus, parents find it difficult to arrange for such high fees for their children’s education. Hence, they emphasized revising the fee structure. In addition, leaders addressed the high cost of textbooks and demanded no textbooks be sold at such prices during the meeting.

The leaders of the protest criticized the government for disregarding the needs of educational institutions. Furthermore, they accused the Telangana government of neglecting the need of allocating money to the schools for education within the Telangana budget. The leaders want the government to take this problem into account and solve it as soon as possible. Hence the schools are likely to declare a holiday today, July 12 for this cause. As there is no official notification related to the holiday, both students and parents must contact the respective schools to stay updated on the School Bandh.
