The University Grants Commission has directed all the higher education institutes of the country to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31st, 2019.

According to the official UGC circular, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will provide an opportunity to reestablish the resilience, unity, strength and security of our country.

To celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, many universities and its affiliated colleges will have a Run for Unity in which students, faculty and non-teaching staff will participate. Other activities suggested by the UGC are debate competition, pledge taking ceremony, and quiz competition. Colleges and Universities can also upload videos of activities undertaken during the celebration on the University Activity Monitoring Portal.
