Coronavirus Impact: Universities and Colleges in Rajasthan Cancel UG / PG Exams

The University of Rajasthan has decided to cancel the annual examinations of the UG and PG courses conducted by all of the higher education institutions in the country. 

Colleges and Universities Exams to be Cancelled in Rajasthan

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, the universities and colleges in Rajashthan have decided to cancel all of the annual examinations of their undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan CM has announced the cancellation of all colleges, universities and technical institutions examinations, due to COVID-19. The assessment of students for promotion will be on the basis of the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

The decision was made after a meeting was held at the CM's house on July 4, 2020. An official notification regarding the same is yet to be released. The students had been asking for the cancellation of the exams for a long time. Many students organization bodies also held online protests against conducting the exams amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier, Rajasthan Technical University and the University of Rajasthan had decided to postpone the exams and has released the tentative time tables for the UG and PG courses exams to be conducted from July 15, 2020, onward.

The impact of the Coronavirus outbreak on higher education in India has been severe and school education has also faced a major setback from the pandemic. Many of the national and state-level examinations have been postponed due to Coronavirus , including those Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) Class 10 and 12 exams. Prominent universities such as DU have postponed their semester examinations and the MBA admissions in India have also been thrown off schedule.

To tackle the issue and save the time of students from getting wasted, many colleges and universities have started online classes and also come up with alternate pathways to their traditional admission processes. Due to the uncertain and volatile nature of the outbreak, it is very difficult to say how long it would take for education and institutions in India to get back on track.
