Class 10 and 12 UP Board exams will most probably be starting from March 16, 2017. The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education had to make changes in its exam schedule owing to the state elections that will be conducted in various phases. The elections process is expected to end on March 16, 2017.

The entire board exam schedule has been pushed back due to the elections. The 2017 board exam results are also expected to be delayed. Students appearing for Class 12 exams will have limited time to prepare for competitive exams like JEE Mains , NEET , etc.
Late declaration of results will also leave the students will a smaller window to apply for admissions to different universities. The UP Board exams were also rescheduled the last time when assembly elections were conducted in 2012.
In December 2016, the board had released a date sheet according to which Class 10 exams were scheduled to start from February 16 whereas the Class 12 exams were supposed to start sometime between February 16 and March 20, 2017. However, the board nullified the schedule following the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

The board has also declared that the practical exams for the batch of 2016-17 will be conducted from December 22 to January 20, 2017. Over 60,29,252 candidates have applied for class 10 and 12 Board exams 2017, out of which 34,04,571 will be sitting for Class 10 Board exam and 26,24,681 students will be appearing for Class 12 exams.
