Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India addressed the students of IIM Ranchi on February 16, 2020 at a programme held in the Aryabhata Auditorium at Ranchi University. Naidu also gave examples of decisions taken by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former late Prime Minister. The decisions were a milestone in reaching prosperity in the country. During his term, India saw revolutions in connectivity in various fields. Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna also changed the face if India’s villages. Also, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was instrumental in bringing about a new revolution in the country’s primary education system.

Naidu referred to the students as the nation’s future leaders and encouraged the students to look for innovative solutions to the country’s issues such as malnutrition, poverty and illiteracy. He also mentioned that the current slowdown in the economy is temporary. He suggested that students should take advantage of the supportive start up ecosystem such as Start up India, MUDRA, and Standup India etc.
He also mentioned about leadership capacity and good governance under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Leadership, Policy and Governance. Leaders doesn’t just include politicians but it refers to someone who has calibre, capacity, character and dedication. Someone who has knowledge and an understanding about the various issues faced by the nation and also the mobility, stability and ability to contribute towards a prosperous society.

Droupadi Murmu, the Governor, IIM Ranchi Director Dr. Shailendra Kumar Praveen Shankar Pandya, IIM President, and Gaurav Marathe, Convenor were also present in the program. Naidu was in Ranchi on a two-day visit.
