The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) declared the results of class 10 written Examination 'Madhyamik 2016' today. Souvik Barman topped this year's Madhyamik examination with 683 marks, followed by in Titas Dubey and Rumik Dutta with 682 marks and then Suvrajit Mondal and Anik Ghosh with 681 marks.
This year, three students hold the second position-- Debdadatta Pal, Titas Dubey and Rumik Dutta with 682 marks, and two students hold the third position-- Suvrajit Mondal and Anik Ghosh with 681 marks.
According to the board official, 10,47,652 students appeared in the Madhyamik examination this year, out of which 8,66,920 students cleared the Madhyamik examination calculating a pass percentage of 82.74, higher than the previous year's which was 82.66 percent.
However, Kolkata has gone much in behind in case of top 10 rankings.While a total number of 66 students from all around West Bengal has taken their position in Top 10 List, Only 2 students from Kolkata have been able to include their names in this list. However, while explaining the reason behind this lower rate of Kolkatans in top rankings, the WBBSE authority has blamed Kolkata's maximum parents' knack of pulling their children to educate in English Medium ICSE, ISC and CBSE schools.
The board had successfully conducted the Madhyamik exam 2016 for both regular as well as external candidates between February 1 to February 10, 2016. In the next year, Madhyamik 2017 will start from February 27th, 2017 and it will end on March 3rd, 2017 as per the tentative calender released by the authority.
