It is not unknown for the UPTET 2021-22 candidates that the exam (earlier scheduled on November 28, 2021) was postponed owing to a leaked question paper circulating in multiple WhatsApp groups. The UPTET conducting board, UPBEB, later announced, on December 22, 2021, that the exam would be carried out with new sets of question papers on January 23, 2022. Now the same exam once again faces the fear of postponement, and this time, the reason is the Omicron scare. The possibility of the exam being postponed has increased now with the delay in the release of UPTET 2021-22 admit cards. The admit card which was to be released on January 12, 2022, has been delayed.

Although no official statement has yet been made by UPBEB, a meeting was held with the UP government concerning this issue. As many as 13.52 lakh students are registered to appear for UPTET primary level examination and about 8.93 lakh students for UPTET upper primary level examination. This persists to be the major reason why the exam authorities are considering postponing the UPTET 2021-22 exam.
The spike in COVID-19 cases across the state of Uttar Pradesh possesses a great challenge to conduct UPTET 2021-22 while being able to withhold all the social distancing guidelines and maintain the safety of the examinees. This rise has already caused the schools up to class 10 to shut down till 14 January 2022 with the fear of further extension looming over it. Not only this but a night curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. is also implemented until further notice along with lockdown restrictions on marriage ceremonies, restaurants, gyms, theatres, etc.
As of now, the UP government and UPBEB are firm on conducting this important eligibility test offline and are considering postponement over the online mode.
The candidates are advised to continue their preparation as planned, given the uncertainty of this entire situation.
For the exam scheduled on January 23, the admit cards issued for November 28 exam are considered invalid. To know more, read: UPTET 2021-22 Admit Card Important Instructions.
