Women's Day 2022: President Ram Nath Kovind Confers Nari Shakti Puraskar Awards 2021 & 2022

President Ram Nath Kovind has been distributed the award on March 08, 2022. Nari Shakti Puraskar aims to facilitate the women, who have been showing excellence in their work.

On I nternational Women’s Day , Indian President Ram Nath Kovind has announced Nari Shakti Puraskar for 29 women for outstanding performance in 2022 and 2021. 28 awards have been given to the women (14 awards for 2021 and the rest 14 awards for 2021) for their exceptional work for women empowerment, such as for the vulnerable and marginalized.

The aim of Nari Shakti Puraskar is to acknowledge the great initiatives started by the Women and to celebrate the women as game-changers. So that the women can get more power to bring necessary positive changes in the society.

The women, who have been rewarded, have been chosen from multiple fields like agriculture, innovation, entrepreneurship, social work, education and literature, arts and crafts, disability rights, merchant navy, STEM background (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), wildlife conservation.

Due to COVID 19 pandemic, the award was not distributed in 2021 and 2022. The awardees have been received Nari Shakti Puraskar in the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. Here in the following table, the list of awardees (year wise) has been tabulated:

Under the Nari Shakti Puraskar, the awardees have been received INR 2,00,000 cash prize from the Government of India. This award scheme was initiated in 1999, then it was known as Stree Shakti Puraskar. Nonetheless, the Government of India has changed the name to Nari Shakti Puraskar since 2015. The primary aim of this award program is to make an identity in society.

The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi connected with these awardees on the eve of International Women’s Day. Modi discussed the success of government efforts, such as vocal for local, is dependent on the women's contribution. Women are now playing a major part in decision-making at a family level and this is the result of economic empowerment.
