Women’s Day 2020: Education Minister Felicitates Head Faculties of Women Universities, Colleges

During the event, the education minister also inaugurated the SAKSHAM portal which has been developed by UGC (University Grants Commission) for the women empowerment in the campus.

 International Women’s Day 2020

To mark the International Women’s Day, 2020; Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the Union Minister of Human Resource & Development (HRD) felicitated the head faculties of women universities and women principles of Colleges in New Delhi. During the event, the education minister also inaugurated the SAKSHAM portal which has been developed by UGC (University Grants Commission) for the women empowerment in the campus.

Through the portal, awareness is created about the new initiatives and opportunities and the Government & United Nations Policy documents will be made available to the women faculties and students. During the Women’s day event, HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal stated that it is believed that academic excellence in women education is required to assure the entitlement and rights of women in order to offer quality education to the women students and the employees posted in higher educational institutions. He also added that the government has taken various initiatives in terms of women entitlement and the new education policy, which is in the final stage, also accompanies special provisions for women students such as scholarship, higher findings, etc.

Notifying about the SAKSHAM portal, the HRD minister stated that the portal will bring together all the information related to recent opportunities and initiatives taken in regards to women empowerment. He added that the portal will also enable the women to file any complaints giants harassment or violence in higher education institutions through the national helpline number (1800111656). The portal also consists of an email address and the option of 'Upload your complaint’ under the Grievance redressal.
