Dear Student,

In order to become a subject teacher in India, it is necessary to have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree. And in order to be eligible for a B.Ed programme, you will have to complete your graduation first.

So, we would suggest you go for a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) programme in Biology. Here is a list of colleges offering BSc in Biology for your reference. Please note that admission in BSc colleges is generally done on the basis of merit created on the marks scored in class 12th. You may also have to sit for an entrance exam, which are usually conducted by the concerned colleges.

After completing the BSc course, you can take admission to one of the colleges offering a BEd degree in India. Please note that you need to have scored at least 50% in your graduation to be eligible for admission to B.Ed programmes. We have a great article on the entrance exams conducted for BEd admissions in India.

Please note that if you wish to take classes at the High School (class 9th and 10th) level, you will be required to have cleared the Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) or one of the State-level TET exam. And if you wish to take classes at the Secondary School (11th and 12th) level, you need to have a master's degree as well.

Please feel free to write back to us if you have any other queries.

Thank you.
