FAQs

Will AFCAT 1 2025 have a sectional cutoff?

Yes, the exam includes sectional cutoff marks. To be selected for the AFSB interview, candidates must meet the overall cutoff. Those who score equal to or above the cutoff proceed to the next selection stages. Approximately 10,000 candidates move on to the AFSB test based on their online test performance. Final selection is based on the AFCAT exam and AFSB interview results. Scoring between 140 to 190 marks out of 300 in the AFCAT exam is considered a good score.

What is considered a good score in the AFCAT exam?

To pass the AFCAT exam, aiming for a score between 140 and 160 out of 300 is recommended. In 2022, the AFCAT cutoff was 157, and the EKT cutoff was 18. Candidates need to meet or exceed these cutoff marks to qualify. Each correct answer earns three marks, while one mark is deducted for each wrong answer. The final score is determined by the total number of correct and incorrect responses, using a normalization formula.

What will be the time duration of the AFCAT 1 2025 exam?

The AFCAT exam lasts for two hours, while the EKT exam is 45 minutes long. In the AFCAT exam, there is no time limit for each section. Candidates are free to leave the exam hall once the test is over. The AFCAT is held in two shifts: the first shift runs from 9:45 am to 11:45 am, and the second shift goes from 2:15 pm to 4:15 pm. During the two-hour AFCAT exam, candidates must answer 100 questions and can allocate their time to different sections as they prefer. Practising with previous years' question papers and mock tests can help candidates improve their time management skills. The AFCAT exam is scored out of 100 marks.

How many attempts are in AFCAT?

Candidates can take the AFCAT exam as many times as they like, provided they meet the age criteria. According to AFCAT eligibility, applicants must be between 20 and 24 years old when the course begins. However, those with a valid Commercial Pilot License from DGCA (India) are eligible to apply until they are 26 years old.

- Short Service Commission (SSC) for Men and Women:
- Flying Branch: SSC officers serve for 14 years from the date of commissioning, with no extension.
- Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical): SSC officers initially serve for 10 years. They may receive a 4-year extension based on service needs, available vacancies, willingness, suitability, and merit.
