WBJEE vs JEE Main Syllabus

Are WBJEE and JEE Main Syllabus the Same: WBJEE and JEE Main syllabus 2025 are almost the same with similar subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in both exams. The WBJEE syllabus 2025 covers 95% of the JEE Main syllabus. Some of the common topics of the JEE Main vs WBJEE syllabus are Laws of Motion, Gravitation, Chemical Bonding, Polymers, Hydrogen, Quadratic Equations, Matrices, Permutation and Combination, Sets and Relations etc. JEE Main syllabus 2025 focuses on application and conceptual comprehension. Through the questions of JEE Main syllabus both knowledge and problem-solving skills are assessed. Whereas, WBJEE 2025 exam differs in difficulty from JEE Mains in general. While assessing conceptual understanding, it might have simpler questions. The syllabus of the JEE Main 2025 exam is as per Class 11 and 12th CBSE Board level and is set by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Whereas, the WBJEE syllabus 2025 is as per the West Bengal Board Class 11 and 12th. The JEE Main is a national level exam which is more difficult than the WBJEE. However, since the top B.Tech colleges in West Bengal are limited there is a tough fight in the WBJEE cutoff also. You can prepare simultaneously for the WBJEE and JEE Main syllabus as they have the same syllabus.

In fact, it is wise to aim for two B. Tech entrance exams together since there is a tough fight for admission into engineering colleges in India. Go through the detailed WBJEE vs JEE Main syllabus and exam pattern analysis given on this page. The JEE Main vs WBJEE syllabus analysis will help you a smart study plan covering both the syllabuses, common topics, and uncommon topics. Students can check out the WBJEE vs JEE Main syllabus similarities and differences below.

About

JEE Main Syllabus

WBJEE Syllabus

Overall

The JEE Mains syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum for Classes 11 and 12, with an emphasis on major topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It also adheres to guidelines set by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The WBJEE syllabus is based on the West Bengal State Board curriculum for Classes 11 and 12. While it is largely identical to the NCERT curriculum, there may be differences in specific topics or the extent of cover of certain topics.

Physics

JEE Mains covers a broad range of subjects, including Modern Physics, Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Optics, and Thermodynamics.

Although the fundamental subjects of WBJEE are the same as JEE Main, other subjects, such as modern physics, may be more or less in-depth. Some state board-specific topics might also be covered in WBJEE.

Chemistry

Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry are covered in JEE Mains, with a focus on concepts and problem-solving.

Similar topics are included in the WBJEE syllabus, although depending on the state board curriculum, the emphasis may be slightly different and include some extra or fewer topics.

Mathematics

Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus, Trigonometry, and Vectors are the main topics of JEE, with a strong emphasis on application and problem-solving.

WBJEE covers the same topics, although the focus and degree of difficulty may differ. Compared to JEE Mains, several topics may be covered differently. Math questions of WBJEE are more time-consuming compared to the JEE Main Maths section.

WBJEE vs JEE Main Exam Pattern: Key Differences

Although the JEE Main and WBJEE syllabus are almost the same and include the common subjects, the exam pattern varies. There are a number of differences in the WBJEE vs JEE Main exam pattern including exam mode, exam duration, question type etc. As per the J EE Main 2025 exam pattern , the test is conducted online separately for two papers: Paper 1 (for B.Tech) and Paper 2 (for B.Arch/ B.Plan). On the other hand, WBJEE exam is held in offline mode for two papers: Paper I is for Mathematics and Paper II is for Physics and Chemistry. JEE Main and WBJEE both are tough entrance exams to crack. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are the subjects of the WBJEE and JEE Main syllabus. Both the exam syllabis are as per the Class 11 and 12th level. If you are preparing for the JEE Main exam 2025 then you don't need to prepare separately for the WBJEE 2025 exam as the majority of the topics are common to both syllabis. One of the wise ways for WBJEE and JEE Main exam preparation is to analyze both exam syllabus. Make a list of common topics in the syllabus and identify the ones that need to be studied separately and are not common in JEE Main and WBJEE. However, keep in mind that both JEE Main and WBJEE are set by different conducting bodies so the magnitude of the difficulty level will vary.
