  • Teaching & learning is a continuous process.
  • In life, anybody can be your teacher & the lessons learnt will be valuable!
  • The Game of Thrones (GOT) series gives us serious lessons about life, skills and opportunities!
Best Game of Thrones (GOT) Scenes that Taught us Some Great Lessons

Learning has no limits. Every situation or circumstance provides you with an opportunity to learn, sometimes simultaneously and sometimes, retrospectively. And to teach is no easy task!

People who love us try to show us the way forward right from our cradle to our grave. And there’s no telling who may end up teaching us what! All we need to do is to keep our minds open. Open to ideas, perspectives, skills, techniques, so that when the time comes, we are equipped to fight the Great War aka The War for the Dawn like The Last Hero or The Prince That Was Promised or Azor Ahai as was prophesized to do!

So, you could be arrogant, and shrug away every shred of experience or 'the' chance meeting and miss out on an excellent teaching & learning opportunities or, grab the chance to be a Stark (Arya, Sansa, Brandon, Jon Snow – take your pick) and learn from whatever life throws at you and implement it in your life and contribute it to your learning process! And kill it, like a boss!

Seriously, The Game of Thrones (GOT) gives us some serious life hacks, which, if we kept our ears & eyes open, can be a good classroom-teaching module! It’s a good thing that Harvard University has recently introduced a course inspired by this epic fantasy drama , eh?

You don’t believe us? Well, see for yourself – the lessons that we can learn from the Game of Thrones series!

Arya vs Brienne

Remember how Arya wanted to become a soldier from the beginning of the series? She wanted to become a trained assassin who is skilled at duelling and defending her house. Well, she did achieve what her heart desired after years of practice and training with the faceless men.

Lesson: Hard work pays off

Sam treating Jorah

As impossible as we thought the treatment of Grey Scale was, Sam doesn’t give up and makes sure that Jorah is treated and is free to achieve what his heart desires!

Lesson: Persistence can lead to miracles

Jon Leads the Attack against the Wildlings

Jon proves to be a potential candidate for the post of Lord Commander when he leads the attack against hundred-thousand wildlings at Castle Black. He not only stood against all odds but also brought the men together and encouraged them to fight. He shows the same leadership spirit at Hardhome and the expedition beyond the Wall in Season 7.

Lesson: Good leadership always prevails

Hold the Door

Possibly one of the most heartbreaking sense in the entire series, Hodor obeys Meera Reed and holds the door while the White Walkers are leading the attack on the Three Eyed Raven. He not only gives up his life but also his existence in both present and the past to help Bran escape.

Lesson: Obedience is a virtue

Red Woman brings back Jon Snow

After losing Stannis and the battle in the north, the Red Woman is not so confident about her part in the story. However sure we all were that she will be the one to bring Jon Snow back, she was not certain whether her prayers will work or not.

Lesson: You have it in you even if sometimes you are feeling uncertain

Tyrion’s Interview with Dany

Tyrion meeting Daenerys (Dany) for the first time is one of the most awaited scenes. Despite being a Lannister who is loathed by half the continent and whose family had conspired to throw away the Targaryen Dynasty, he convinces Dany to overlook the past and take him in as her advisor.

Lesson: Want to bag that interview? A mix of wit and knowledge does the trick!

Tywin tells Joffrey who’s the Boss

We all use to love the moments when a more powerful character used to tell Joffrey off and the best amongst those is the one where he is very subtly being told off by his grandfather Tywin Lannister. Tywin tells Joffrey – all too politely – that he needs not worry about the about ruling.

Lesson: The best lessons are learnt when you listen

Resurrection of Beric Dondarrion

Although GOT keeps surprising us with despite being a fantasy series, we all got goosebumps when Thoros brings Beric back from the dead after the latter had been slain by the Hound.

Lesson: Nothing is impossible

Allegiance of the Unsullied

After tolerating her brother’s indifference, fighting the Dothraki’s savage treatment and overcoming the treachery of the sorceress, we all cheer for Daenerys when she burns the masters and wins the allegiance of the Unsullied.

Lesson: The harder you struggle, the stronger you’ll be

Battle of the Blackwater Bay

Stannis sailing towards King's Landing with his soldiers and a fleet of pirates seemed impossible to defeat. However, Tyrion didn’t lose his cool and planned the wildfire attack that blew up the entire fleet, preventing the city from the worst siege.

Lesson: Planning and strategy are the keys to success

Syrio Forel’s Last Stand

One of the best lessons that Arya had was the one Syrio Forel gave her while trying to save her after the capture of Ned Stark. He didn’t give up hope and fought the Gold Cloaks with a wooden sword, which gave Arya the time to escape.

Lesson: What do you say to 'despair' – not today!

The Wall Falls

The prospect of the wall falling seemed impossible till Viserion was not brought into the fold by the Night King. He waited for his time and seized the moment when he saw dragons flying in his domain. With one spear he ensured the strength of his army and blasted the wall with Viserion to help his army march.

Lesson: Patience and perseverance always pay

What do you think? These are some awesome lessons, and can teach you a thing or two about being successful, inspiring and bold! If you think we have missed out any of the scenes that have great lessons, share them with us in the comments. Happy Teachers Day!
