The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced CA new syllabus from 2016. ICAI thought for changing entire CA Syllabus pattern due to changes in business and economic world.
Here the key features of CA Syllabus 2016 are given. This syllabus is yet waiting for the final approval of government. In the given notification CA Syllabus 2016, there are some changes in CA CPT, IPCC and CA Final.
CA CPT will now be named as CA Foundation course, IPCC will be named as Intermediate course.
In CA foundation, Paper 2 and Paper 4 will be Objective type papers and remaining are descriptive papers. There are some major changes in CA intermediate exams too.
ICAI will give sufficient number of attempts to complete the CA exams in old syllabus after which the students will be migrated to CA new syllabus 2016. So there is nothing for you to bother about whether new syllabus 2016 is applicable to you or not.
Changes in CPT – CPT New Syllabus 2016
• The present entrance exam CPT (Common Proficiency Test) has changed to “Foundation Exam”
• CPT MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) based exam has changed to Foundation descriptive exam for two subjects and objective exam for the rest two
• Now you can register for CPT before 6 months. In new scheme you should register before 9 months. Adequate time gap is given so that students get sufficient time to study since the Foundation Course has been made descriptive.
• The examinations will be in May and November every year instead of June and December every year.
CA Syllabus 2016 – Foundation Course (CPT) syllabus applicable from 2016
Foundation Course: Number of Papers — 4
There are 4 papers in CA Foundation course. Remember one thing that Paper 2 and Paper 4 will be Objective type papers. Read below !!

Changes in CA IPCC – IPCC New Syllabus 2016
ICAI has announced some changes in CA IPCC syllabus also. Here we are providing Changes from 2016 in CA IPCC Syllabus / Scheme.
1. Present CA IPCC exam has 7 papers. In new scheme there are 8 papers for IPCC exam.
2. Changes in CA IPCC Cost accounting and Financial Management
Now costing and FM exam for 100 Marks. But in new scheme
Costing exam for 100 marks (Group – 1)
Financial Management exam for 60 marks (Group – 2)
3. Changes in CA IPCC Law Paper
Communication of Law paper 20 Marks has removed from CA IPCC Law paper.
Business Law of 30 Marks removed from CA IPCC.
Marks weightage of Company Act has increased to 60 marks
Other laws is for 20 marks and Ethics for 20 marks
4. Changes in CA IPCC Tax exam. Tax paper has divided into 2 parts
Direct Tax – 60 Marks
Indirect Tax – 40 Marks
5. Information Technology and Strategic Management Paper also included in CA IPCC Group – 2.

Changes in CA Final – Final Syllabus 2016
ICAI has announced some changes in CA Final syllabus 2016 also. These changes in CA Final syllabus / scheme applicable from 2016. In new scheme also there are 8 papers for CA Final exam.
The subject Information Systems Control and Audit (ISCA) paper for 50 marks.
International Taxation for 30 marks has been added in CA Final syllabus 2016 view of increasing importance of the subject in the present globalized world.
A new subject ‘Financial Services and Capital Market’ has been included to make CA more competitive in the finance related areas.
The nomenclature Corporate Laws and other Economic Laws has been kept to make the name more representative of the subject.

CA New Course | Foundation Route
Revised Scheme: Route I – Foundation Course
Under the Foundation Course Route, the following steps are required
1. Register with Board of Studies (BoS) after appearing in Class XII till June 30/Dec 31.
2. Be eligible to appear for Foundation examination after passing Class XII examination. The first Foundation examination can be taken in November/May, as applicable, following passing of Class XII examination.
3. Qualify Foundation Course.
4. Register with the BoS for the Intermediate Course.
5. Complete 8 months of study
6. Appear and Pass in either or both Groups of Intermediate Course
7. Successfully complete Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) before commencement of the practical training
8. Register for Three years Practical Training on passing either or both the Groups of Intermediate.
9. Register for the Final Course after qualifying both the Groups of Intermediate Course.
10. Successfully complete Four Weeks Advanced ICITSS during the last two years of Practical Training.
11. Complete Practical Training.
12. Appear in Final examination after completion of practical training and Advanced ICITSS.
13. Become Member.
Note: ICAI has decided in principle the above mentioned Scheme. However, the scheme will be notified in the official Gazette in due course.
CA New Course | Direct Entry Route
Revised Scheme: Route II – Direct Entry Route
The ICAI allows Commerce Graduates/Post-Graduates (with minimum 55% marks) or Other Graduates/Post-Graduates (with minimum 60% marks) and Intermediate level passed students of Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Institute of Cost Accountants of India to enter directly to its Intermediate Course. The following steps are required to be undertaken by the eligible Graduates and Post Graduates under this route:
1. Register with the BOS for the Intermediate course (provisional registration allowed to the students doing Final year of graduation).
2. Successfully complete Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) before commencement of the practical training.
3. Register for Three Years Practical Training.
4. Appear in Intermediate Examination after Nine months of Practical Training.
5. Qualify Intermediate Course.
6. Register for the Final Course after qualifying both Groups of Intermediate Course.
7. Successfully complete Four Weeks Advanced ICITSS during the last two years of Practical Training.
8. Complete Practical Training.
9. Appear in Final examination after completion of practical training and Advanced ICITSS.
10. Become Member
Note: Candidates who have passed Intermediate level examination of ICSI or ICWAI and enter the CA Intermediate course directly shall be treated at par with Foundation passed students and shall have to undergo the CA course in the manner into the Foundation passed students.
Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS)
Duration: 4 weeks (2 weeks for soft skills and 2 weeks for IT)
When to complete: Students registering for the Intermediate course shall be required to do ICITSS before commencement of practical training.
Assessment Test: An assessment test shall be conducted at the end of the course which the students have to qualify for being able to appear in the Intermediate examination.
Practical Training
Duration of Practical Training: Three Years
Commences after completing Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) and passing Either or Both Groups of Intermediate.
For direct entrants coming through Graduation and Post Graduation route, the practical training commences immediately after they complete four weeks ICITSS.
Advance Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS)
Duration: 4 weeks (2 weeks for soft skills and 2 weeks for Advance IT)
When to complete: Students undergoing Practical training shall be required to do AICITSS during the last 2 years of Practical training but to complete the same before appearing in the Final Examination.
Assessment Test: An assessment test shall be conducted at the end of the course which the students have to qualify for being eligible to appear in the Final Examination.syllabus in CA CPT, IPCC and CA Final from May 2016 !!
