CBSE Board Exam 2023

This is one of the most important updates released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the upcoming board exams. The board has released a circular on the official websites which overview the assessment pattern for CBSE Board Exam 2023 for class 10 and 12 students. The guidelines as mentioned by CBSE in the circular will be the basis for next year’s annual exam pattern and evaluation. No Term Wise Exams From CBSE Board Exam 2023

As per the notice released by CBSE in context to the CBSE Board Exam 2023 assessment scheme, there will be no term-wise exams as adopted in the last year. Last year, due to the pandemic situation, the board decided to split the annual exams into two terms: Term 1 and Term 2. From the next year, the term-wise exam will be scrapped and there will be only one term exam for the academic year. The exam will be conducted on the basis of the curriculum as set by the CBSE and questions will be designed on the complete yearly syllabus. The syllabus will be released on the CBSE official website.

Introduction of Competency-Based Education

Along with the scrapping of two-term exams, CBSE has also revised the exam pattern for CBSE Board Exams 2023. As stated by the board, National Education Policy 2020 has affirmed the need to move to competency-based learning. This signifies that the students must be taught key competencies to stand up to the challenges of 21st century proactively. That is why CBSE board has taken the initiative to implement Competency-Based Education (CBE) in its curriculum and exam pattern. In this initiative, the students will be introduced to multiple aspects such as aligning assessment to competency-based education, developing exemplar resources for teachers and students on CBE pedagogy and assessment, and continued teacher capacity building. In context to the circulars, the board will be initiating changes in the exam pattern and assessment scheme for the board exam year 2022-23 in order to align the assessment to CBE. Hence, board exam 2023 will include a greater number of competency-based questions as the major part of the question paper.
